Michael Ward from Castlewellan has topped the popularity charts at Ten Square, winning the Tennent's Rockaoke final with his personal rendition of 'Galway Girl' by Steve Earle.
The Belfast boutique hotel and bar has been showcasing the best of home grown talent to packed houses in recent weeks with its high profile version of Open Mic Nights. Six singers made it through the heat stages to the Grand Final, hosted by DJ Pete Snodden, and supported on stage by the resident live band, The Breakfast Club. Up for grabs was a top prize package of a 5 star weekend in Dublin, complete with first class rail travel and 02 tickets.

Second place on the night went to Conor McManus from West Belfast, who sang "Summer of '69″ by Bryan Adams. Andrea Brown from Dundonald sang 'Valerie' by Amy Winehouse to take third place.
The other finalists who made it to Tennents Rockaoke final where Elaine Rock from Broughshane (who sang 'Stand By Me' originally by Ben E. King), Claire O'Boyle from Strabane (who sang 'Buck Rodgers' by Feeder) and Emma Slevin from Enniskillen (who sang 'Run' by Snow Patrol).

Ten Square Manager Kevin Smyth was delighted at the response to Tennents Rockaoke and admits to being blown away by the talent on show. He said, We have quite a reputation as a music venue so our regulars expect high standards even from amateurs. Although we were committed to providing a showcase for local talent I have to admit we approached the open mic concept with a little caution, but it has been a phenomenal success. Forget X Factor: weve got it all going on right here in downtown Belfast with some supposedly ordinary people taking to the mic like seasoned professionals! No doubt about it: Belfast has talent!
